We need to pause in order to see God.
1. Most of us are living at an unsustainable pace.
2. I do believe God is present in our lives.
Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight – why the bush does not burn up.” When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.” (Exodus 3:1-4 NIV)
3. I believe we live in a world where the presence of God is near, but we miss it.
4. God longs for us to pause, to stop, to breathe, and to take note of His presence.
“Do not come any closer… Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” (Exodus 3:5 NIV)
5. In every situation we are on holy ground. God is here, but are we?
6. We have to train our eyes to see God.
Look for God.
Join Julie Martin as she leads the new Deeper class on Sunday evenings from 6-7:30PM. For two thousand years, Christians have thought hard about their faith, using their minds to glorify God, examining questions like: what does it mean that God is three-in-one? What does it mean that Jesus is both God and Man? The result has been what we call Theology, or the Study of God. If you’ve ever wanted to embrace the intellectual side of your faith, this class is for you.
Be an usher/greeter Sunday mornings before class. Contact Ben Taylor if you are interested.
6:30-8PM Wednesday evenings. Come early (5:30PM) to hang out with us in room 434/435.
